Purpose

This document is a User Guide for Product Previews module for Magento. It describes how work with the extension.

Product Previews provides short information about products directly from the catalog, there is no need to open up each product page to see the details.

System Requirements

The extension works under Magento from 1.4.x and higher.

The extension works with Apache 1.3.x and higher, PHP 5, Linux or IIS.

The extension’s correct work is guaranteed with the following browsers:

• IE7, IE8, IE9
• FireFox 4.x, 5.x
• Google Chrome 15.x
• Safari 5.x

The correct work with other Magento versions, other browsers and Apache/PHP versions is not guaranteed.

Installation

All our Magento extensions and templates are installed via IToris Installer.

Download IToris Installer and un-pack to the root of your website. It will then appear in menu System –>IToris extensions –> IToris Installer.

Open it and you will see all our Magento Extensions and Templates, both installed and available. You can install, update and un-install them with one click now.

Find Product Previews in the list of extensions and press Install button. It will ask for the license key that you will receive after the purchase. Enter the key and submit. The extension will be installed. It will be available in menu System –>IToris extensions –> Product Previews

License

Magento modules developed by IToris are provided with 2 license types - regular and premium.

Regulal license is partially encrypted. This license is website-dependent. By ‘website’ here we understand the website in Magento terms. Under one Magento installation one license key of the extension can activate all stores/storeviews. within one website. If your configuration has several Magento websites - a separate license will be required for each.

One license also supports a number of sub-domains for development/testing purposes in addition to the live website. Please see the full list of available sub-domains and additional information about the license in our Terms and Conditions

Premium license activates one Magento installation. All websites, stores and storeviews under one installation are covered with one license. Premium license is 100% open-source and is recommended for customizations.

You can switch the license from one domain to another – login to IToris website using the credentials you will receive after the purchase. Go to My Downloads area, find your key there and reset it from the current website. Then use it again to activate another website.

The license also includes free life-time updates for the extension.

Activation

To enable the module select System –>IToris extensions –> Product Previews

Extension Enabled - this setting activates the module

There is ability to select its own set of settings for stores/storeviews (use Current Configuration Scope drop-down).

Products’ Preview

When the module is installed and enabled - preview appears in the list of products. When mouse is over a product’s image - a semi-transparent black area appears over it, that reads View Details:

When this area is clicked - a modal window with the product’s details is displayed.

If any other area apart from the window is clicked, or the window’s close icon - the window is closed and the display is returned to standard catalog view.

Simple Products

The details in the modal window will depend on product type, on custom options, number of images, price and so on.

The following information will be displayed for the majority of products:

• Product’s name
• # of reviews and star rating - clickable, directs to the product’s reviews page
• Price
• Q-ty box and Add to Cart button - adds product to shopping cart
• Short Description
• Add to Wishlist button - adds product to wishlist
• Add to Compare button - adds product to compare
• More Details button - directs to the product page

Products with Options

In case there is a product with custom options or configurations (grouped, bundle, configurable, and so on) - options will be displayed in the details window. Customers will be able to select then directly in the area without opening the product’s page.

If there are more that 2 options - there will be a button Configure displayed. Pressing it switches the window to the products’ options:

Products with Additional Information

If a product has several images - all of them will be available in the window with ability to view them

If a product has a special price (discounts, promotions, etc.) - this will be reflected in details window. There will be the current price, old price and how much customers save (in percentage):

Apart from standard Magento product catalogs, there are several other areas where product preview will work, providing additional advantages to your customers.

Homepage Product Slider

Combination Product Previews with Homepage Product Slider module provides product preview in sliding catalogs:

Wishlist

In combination with either standard Magento wishlist functionality or Multiple Wishlists module product preview is available in wishlist.

As Product Previews allow selecting custom options or configuring products directly in preview - there is ability to select options and configuration directly from the wishlists.

Product in wishlist has View Details mode:

Product can be configured directly from the wishlist. If now it is added to the shopping cart - all configuration will be kept:
