How to Set up Multiple Currencies in Magento 2

Configuring currencies in Magento 2 allows store owners to determine the type of currency their customers will be allowed to use. Once the setup is complete, the product pages and all the supporting documentation will be accompanied by the necessary currency symbols.

By taking an advantage of Magento 2 platform, website admins will be able to choose among the 20 most popular currencies of the world.

Setting up Multiple Currencies in Magento 2

Here, we will set-up multiple currencies so that the users can switch between different currencies while browsing different product pages of your site.

Step 1: Login to your Magento Admin account;

Step 2: Navigate to Stores → Configuration;

Step 3: Under the General tab, find the Currency Setup settings;

Step 4: Choose your preferred Base Currency, Default Display Currency, and Allowed Currencies;

Step 5: Refresh your cache if you have previously set your cache settings to enabled.

Here, we will walk you through the process of displaying separate prices for different websites in Magento 2.

Step 1: Login to your Magento Admin account;

Step 2: Navigate to Stores → Configuration;

Step 3: Click the Catalog tab and choose the Catalog section;

Step 4: Under the Catalog Price Scope, choose the Website option in order to display different product prices on different websites.

Step 5: To display the same product in different currency units on different websites, you’ll need to go to Catalog → Products, click the names of the products you want to get listed on those sites, scroll down to the section called Product in Websites and leave a checkmark in front of the Names of the Websites you want those products to appear.

Setting Currency Exchange Rates in Magento 2

Here, we will show you how to set up different exchange rates in Magento 2 so as to convert your product prices from one currency to another.

Step 1: Login to your Admin account and go to Stores → Currency Rates;

Step 2: Choose the appropriate Import Option to import currency rates from 1 of the 3 available data sources.

That’s it. Since we’ve chosen the US Dollars as our default currency, all of the product prices will be displayed in $ monetary units by default. However, if you’ve selected multiple Allowed Currencies in the Currency Configuration settings, the customers will be able to choose the currency they want your prices to be displayed.
